For golf clubs and the societies who book them

Stop competing
on green fee.

Every club within twenty miles has eighteen holes and a bacon roll. Countback hands a visiting society a live leaderboard on every phone, a course card carrying their sponsors, and their results before they leave the bar — so the organiser books you again.

Sample data. Ties split on countback — last 9, last 6, last 3, then the 18th. ✓ means the playing group agreed the card at the end of the round.

The booking you want back

One person decides where they play next year.

It is whoever organised it — and they are not comparing your greens to anyone else’s. They are remembering whether the day was a pleasure to run or a Sunday evening with a spreadsheet. Countback is aimed squarely at that person.

Their evening back

No spreadsheet at 11pm

Cards are agreed by the players out on the course, ties split on countback automatically, and the results, the workbook and an announcement naming every sponsor are ready before the last group is off the 18th.

Their sponsors

They look good to the people paying

A society funds the day by selling holes. Countback puts each sponsor on the card that every player opens on that tee, and names them again in the results. That makes the organiser’s job of going back next year considerably easier — and a society that raises more can afford more of your package.

Your bar

A reason to stay in the clubhouse

Point a TV at one address and leave it. Teams, individuals and the sponsor rail rotate on their own as cards come in, so the room has something to watch — and people watching a leaderboard are people at the bar.

Your course, your season

Set it up once. Use it thirty times.

This is the part that only makes sense for a club. The course card is yours and it is entered once; every society that comes after runs on it. The work is front-loaded into an afternoon and then it is done.

Once, before the season

Type your card in — every tee, every par, every stroke index — or import it and check it. It is validated before it can be used, because a wrong stroke index does not look wrong, it just quietly produces a wrong result. Then you never type it again.

For each society

A new event takes a minute: their name, their date, their format, their allowances. It gets its own codes and its own web address, and nothing bleeds between one society and the next.

After they have gone

They leave with their results and you keep the course. The next society that walks in is set up on the same card in about the time it takes to make the booking.

Your own competitions run on the same card. Captain’s day, the club championship, a midweek medal — team, individual, or both on one board.

What it costs you in staff time

Nobody in the pro shop is doing tech support.

A club will not adopt something that turns Saturday morning into a helpdesk. Every decision here is made so your team can hand it over and walk away.

For the players

Nothing to install, nothing to join

No app, no accounts, no passwords. A code on the team sheet opens that team’s scoring on whatever phone they already have, and that is the whole of it.

Dead spots

It works where your course doesn't

Half of most courses has no signal, and that is not going to change. Scores entered out of range are held on the phone and sync themselves when a bar comes back — the marker is told plainly what has gone through and what hasn’t.

The desk

Hand registration to their volunteer

The morning desk has its own screen, its own link and its own code — one that checks people in and corrects a handicap and can do nothing else. Give it to whoever the society brings, not to your staff, and without handing over the event.

Handicaps

Numbers that agree with the club's

Enter a Handicap Index and it converts for the tee being played; enter a Course Handicap from your system and that always wins. Your signed card stays the official record — this sits alongside it, never over it.

The name

Countback.

When two teams finish level, the prize is decided on the back nine, then the back six, then the back three, then the 18th alone. Your members settle it that way every week. It is the moment the day turns on, so we named the thing after it — and the app splits ties exactly that way, automatically, before anyone has to go and find a pen.

Get in touch

Put it in your society package.

Countback is built and running. It is new, and it is honest about that — the example board above is sample data, not another club’s day dressed up as a reference. If you run society golf and want to see it on your own card, with your own tees and stroke indexes, get in touch and we will set your course up and show you.
